08 Jan 2025: Train Services from Katra to Srinagar: Vande Bharat and Mail Express Announced – Check Schedules

The Northern Railway has revealed the schedule for train services on the newly established Katra-Srinagar route, featuring both Vande Bharat Express and Mail Express trains. The Vande Bharat service will facilitate travel between Katra and Srinagar in roughly 2.5 hours, while the Mail Express will run twice a day.

Residents of New Delhi can look forward to this development as Northern Railway prepares to launch these services, anticipated to begin after January 20. The Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of approximately 100 kilometers in about 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Timetable for Trains from Katra to Srinagar:

• Vande Bharat: Departing from Katra at 8:10 AM, it is expected to reach Srinagar by 11:20 AM.
• Mail Express: This service will operate twice daily with departures at:
• 9:50 AM, arriving in Srinagar at 1:10 PM
• 3:00 PM, arriving in Srinagar at 6:20 PM

Timetable for Trains from Srinagar to Katra:

• Mail Express:
• Departs from Srinagar at 8:55 AM, reaching Katra by 12:05 PM
• Second departure is at 3:10 PM with an arrival time of 6:30 PM
• Vande Bharat: Leaves Srinagar at 12:45 PM and arrives in Katra by 3:55 PM.

This new connection is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), which is considered one of the most challenging segments of this ambitious project. The Vande Bharat train will also operate on a route that includes a journey starting from Delhi at 7 PM and arriving in Srinagar by the following morning at 8 AM.

The journey between Katra and Srinagar encompasses seven stations:
Reasi, Sawalkot, Sangaldan, Ramban, Banihal, Qazigund, and Bijbehara.

Fare Information:
While ticket prices for travel between Katra and Srinagar have yet to be finalized, details for the Vande Bharat fare are forthcoming.
